Pete Keating and The Renslow Trestle return with Tenderly, the second preview from a forthcoming five-track EP recorded at Seattle’s London Bridge Studios. Rooted in mid-century Americana, the track blends folk, blues and jazz influences into a warm reflection on finding genuine connection amid the frustrations of modern life.
Rather than dwelling on society’s darker edges, Tenderly turns its attention toward the reassurance of love and the strength that comes from having someone beside you. That contrast gives the song an inviting emotional center, balancing weariness with tenderness and hope.
The recording features Keating alongside Jacob Brown on piano and organ, Harrison Keating on upright bass, Trevor Olohan on drums, Gavin Olohan on electric guitar, Debbie Cantwell on viola and backing vocals, with additional vocals from Marita Schott and Baylor Burbidge. Eric Lilavois handled production and engineering.
A particularly appealing aspect of the session was its live approach: Keating tracked acoustic guitar and vocals together, preserving the natural phrasing and immediacy of a performing songwriter. The result feels intimate, organic and grounded in human experience, while still carrying enough rhythm to invite a dance.
