Longboat’s Proud of My Postcode offers an electronic exploration of Britain through the eyes of an American musician whose connection with the country continues to deepen. The record marks the prolific project’s 37th album, blending inventive production with thoughtful observations on British culture, history and everyday existence.
Recorded at Strongroom Studios in Shoreditch, with Will Davies behind the engineering, the collection draws inspiration from the contrast between Seattle’s natural surroundings and Britain’s centuries-old streets, landscapes and traditions. Rather than attempting to capture the entire nation, Longboat delivers a personal reflection shaped by the places, people and small details that have made a lasting impression.

Formed in Seattle in 2011, the genre-hopping outfit is guided by a jazz tenor saxophonist and songwriter with an impressive catalogue of recordings and more than 500 compositions. Although frequently working alone in the studio, the project can incorporate rock and jazz performers, orchestral textures and vocal support when needed.
Moving beyond conventional romantic themes, Longboat embraces songwriting as a means of documenting the world. Proud of My Postcode promises a distinctive, human-centred perspective on modern Britain, finding musical inspiration in ordinary routines, historical depth and the contradictions of contemporary life.
