Me & Melancholy’s FEM. is an intimate, shape-shifting electronic album that refuses to settle into one mood. Across 11 tracks, Stockholm producer Peter Ehrling moves between shimmering synthpop, darker industrial textures, post-punk unease and spacious electronic atmospheres, creating a record that feels both immediate and deeply reflective.
The album’s emotional range is its greatest strength. Dance with me brings bright, nostalgic energy and a sense of release, while Lost in you introduces heavier bass and mechanical percussion, turning attraction into something more consuming. Elsewhere, Broken Souls finds vulnerability beneath guarded surfaces, Reputation examines the damage caused by identities imposed by others, and No Permission transforms resistance into an insistent, liberating statement.
The closing Ghosts in the Mirror leaves the strongest lingering impression, surrounding memory and regret with a haunting electronic haze. Rather than resolving its contrasts, FEM. embraces them, allowing joy, grief, anger, affection and loneliness to coexist.
Ehrling’s hands-on approach is evident throughout, with synthesizers, guitars and programmed production shaped into something personal rather than genre-bound. Dedicated to his late father, FEM. ultimately feels like a candid snapshot of change, loss and self-discovery.
