Rather than delivering a straightforward political statement, the song creates an uneasy question: when individuality disappears, is that defeat or freedom? Its central image of erased faces suggests the loss of history, personality and agency, yet it also hints at escape from expectations, labels and the burden of maintaining a fixed self.
